Warming Himalayas putting rural communities under risk
Carbon emission produced by the developed nations has robbed the smile of the Himalayas. Temperature rise in the Himalayan region has brought drastic impacts on crop yields, water shortage and snow melting, pushing rural villagers to the edge of consequences. Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, with around 31 percent of its population of 28 million living below the poverty line. Its diverse topography, fragile eco-system and extreme poverty make it vulnerable to the negative impact of climate change, despite, having one of the lowest emissions in the world of 0.025 percent of the total global Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Implications of the climate change to the fragile mountain ecosystem, fresh water, and extreme weather events, agriculture, human health and others are taking its toll where the people living in the selected ares are facing serious problems. The report 'Even the Himalayas have Stopped Smiling Climate Change, poverty and adaptation in Nepal' claimed that changing weather patterns had dramatically affected crop production, leaving them unable to properly feed themselves and getting into debt. The developed nations should take responsibility for the degradation of the climate in the developing countries and further emmisions with regard to the standards set according to future agreement. It is very important that the voice of Himalayan region in the coming Copenhagan global climate treaty by late December will be more reasonable developed nations should further help in assisting the most impacted countries with posible resources including technological transfer and take proactive measures to adapt and mitigate the climate change...!!! Rural Tourism For Economic Development
Nepal is a picturesque nation, which smiles at the world with its snow-capped mountains and dense forest with garlands of colourful RHODODENDRON. It is a nation where the sweet voices of cuckoos echo from trees with delicious red berries at the alitudes of sevento eight thousand feet above the sea level. It is a country where the heart misses a beat every now and then as the breathtaking view of nature cpatures one's mind and soul. How wonderful it is to feel so alive as adrenaline rushes through our veins with every step we take towards the high snow-capped mountains or cross hanging bridges with wild rushing waters down below! Nepal is truly a unique destination that has so much to offer from adventure to nature and culture to heritage: it is a treasure chest of nature, culture and destination that has it all. However, we haven't been beable to grasp our natural resources and market them efficietly in the global market. we have so much to offer but we have done so little to take advantage of your natural settings. We have wild virgin forests, sites with spectacular views that have never been explored, natural settings that have been ignored, peaks that are never been scaled and paths that have never been trotted. Beautiful villages with their traditional touch of hospitality are other attractions. The people are generous and take the guests as Gods. Their house are constructed with stone, wood and clay that look cozy and comfortable, and food they serve is made from firewood fueled mud stoves, which are built inside the homes. to know more about Nepal adventures trips visit at www.sherpajourneys.net Sherpa Journeys will provide you with quality and reliable service while you are traveling with us in the Himalaya, so that you will have a comfortable and enjoyable journey.
